I need some suggestions for some new music to listen to, tomorrow i drive to colorado and kansas is such a long and dull ride, i am in need of some new music. so i'm taking suggestions, i like a large variety of music, just about anything besides mass produced crap (i'm not trying to offend anyone) ie most country, most pop, most rap.

bands i enjoy, mindless self indulgence, billy talent, A.F.I. , Apartment 26, Beastie Boys, Brand New, Cake, Fatboy Slim, five for fighting, garbage, gravity kills, jet, muse, chemical romance, powerman, nin, scapegoat wax, and a slew of techno and japanese pop.

unique bands (that are also good) that very few people have heard of are always a plus, i never would've guessed i liked Mindless self indulgence, but it grows on you like cancer.

I would just like to put a warning on APC real quick. I've been on alot of long drives, and APC has been known to put me to sleep every time, especially on long boring drives.

Yeah, I can see that.

With that said, 30 seconds and Ours are likely to have the same effect.

If you're one of those people who don't get sleepy no matter what while driving though, I still recommend those three.

Wow strange to see someone else who likes Apartment 26. I'm a fan of both CD's, although Hallucinating is the better of the two...can't beat kinda-electronic metal.

If you like My Chemical Romance try out the Tell All Your Friends by Taking Back Sunday. Also check out Pitchshifter, and if you like them try KMFDM. I'll second The Mars Volta, any of their CD's is awesome to listen to on the road. You should like them, but after a listen or two of the CD.

If you want good bands that not alot of people have heard of, I'm your gal. I always get made fun of at the house for listening to shit that no one knows. Not all of this is available on limewire or anything though. You'll have to look hard for a couple of these bands. I suggest the Privates, Self, Hey Mercedes, The Early November, Say Anything, Desaparicidoes, Matisyahu, Call Florence Pow, Fluid Ounces, Guster, Overzealous, Ludo, Jetpack, Harper, The Features, The Foxymorons, Spoon, and The Bubblegum Complex.

Most of these bands are from the Nashville/Murfressboro TN area. Aaaand I love them.

That is all.

They have another CD?! shit! Need to get Hallucinating.

Shannon, I don't think Desaparicidoes would be hard to find. But the others...yeah. What kind of music are they? Indie-ish? Alternative? Something else?

Yup...Music for the Massive. Totally different than Hallucinating, sounds like a different band. It is still good, but much more pop-ish...I think they actually made it to appeal to the USA's music market.

About four or five of those I listed won't be hard to find...and that's why I said 'a couple of these'.

Most of them are indie rock. Self is just crazy though...crazy good. Go to selfies.com to get a little taste. I suggest playing Happy Accidents, Trunk Fulla Amps, Cannon, Flip-Top-Box, Breakdown, or Hey Deciever. Self is my favorite band ever...so if you likey, let me know. Their album Gizmodgery was made with childrens instruments. Like fake piano's and shit. Hah, it's so awesome.

Oh, P.S. - The song Stay Home is on Shrek. I don't remember which one, but it is. And Self does the Expedia.com commercial. Gosh they're so awesome.

i was gonna suggest Billy Talent and Scapegoat Wax, but it seems you've already heard of them... so now i'll suggest:
Jimmy Eat World - Futures
Goldfinger (any album)
Reel Big Fish - Cheer Up!
Sublime - Sublime
and the new Thrice album is supposed to be pretty good too, but i cant remember the name of it.
