Well, to each their own but holy fucking christ they are one of the many reasons why the music business blows ass in the modern age.

Did someone mention Fall Out Boy yet? Very crappy and overrated. Also, WHY does Nickleback get radio play? Fuck Radio: http://www.1057thepoint.com/playlist/index.aspx (playlist of popular STL rock radio station). I challenge you to name six decent bands from that list.
As for underrated:
-Opeth
-Boy Hits Car (I don't know why I like them, but I do)
-Dillinger Escape Plan (worth bringing up again)
Finally, They Might be Giants >> [any new band that takes themselves way too seriously]

I win. In order:
Gorillaz
System of a Down
Matisyahu
Nine Inch Nails
Audioslave
Korn (a stretch, I know, but they were innovators early on)
But in all seriousness, that was all I could get (and I had to convince myself to put Korn on there in order to win) out of that list.
Does anyone else hate Coheed and Cambria as much as I do? Sure, its different and all, but I think it sucks. I heard quite a bit last spring about how different and "good" they are. I've tried to listen to it a few times and just think it sucks...

I think they're a pubescent lead singer away from being a great band. But as it stands, my opinion changes on them pretty often.

i hate to say this but fuck audioslave, i just cant listen to them anymore. they are so much worse together then they were as soundgarden and rage.
I agree. Fuck them. Chris Cornell was decent in Soundgarden, but now he's just a monotone piece of shit.
lukecp, I may hate Audioslave, but I'd rather listen to an entire audioslave CD before listening to a minute of Coheed and Cambria. They are the worst band, ever. The guitarist is pretty good, but the music is ruined by the whining, faggot of a vocalist. He makes me want to stab my eardrums with a rusty fork. I'll celebrate they day they break up.

He's probably just missing a pair of nuts.
Blink 182.....ehh, they're not TOO bad. Their lyrics can be really childish though.
I'd also like to see Hawthorne Heights (and any other emo band) wiped off the face of the earth.
Underrated:
Killswitch Engage
Bloodsimple
Mushroomhead
Nothingface
Spineshank (too bad they broke up, the lead singer has a new band though)
Trivium

Dude Ranch and Cheshire Cat were fairly good albums.
Blink 182 right now, sucks pretty hard. But pre-sell out Blink was pretty good.
didn't Blink break up??
and on another note... is all music supposed to impact our lives and make us look deep inside our selves... I'll be the first to admit that Fall out boy has some of the worst lyric writing known to man, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a higher energy band...

I love you.

Geddy Lee sang for one of the greatest bands of all time, and he has an even higher voice. I don't understand people that criticize a band just because the singer is in a range that they don't feel comfortable with.

What a depressing state of music today.
