Not sure if this is going to be in the actual line of Evil Dead. It says that "he's mistaken for his character Ash..." meaning that it'll be Bruce playing himself. Meaning this probably isn't AoD2, nor is it the 4th in the Evil Dead line. |

Well, *of course* it's not ED4 or AoD2. That's part of the joke. This film is supposed to lampoon those earlier works. It's a perfect twist for the fans who have been begging for the next installment. Now they've got it, but not in the way they were expecting. You can't play crowds better than that. The film *does* fit the overall story arc, though. It sounds like the trilogy will almost be prerequisite for the viewer to really get the idea who Ash is and why monsters attack him. In other words, it needs context. Yeah, there will probably be enough backstory in TCMB to enable it to stand on it's own, but clearly it was meant to be strongly associated with the entire Evil Dead line. I'm also pretty sure it'll be known colloquially as ED4 or AoD2. I almost wish the production title would be changed to "Evil Dead 4: They Call Me Bruce" or something to that effect, but it's just too good as an "independent" parody. Besides, AoD was already the horror-movie spoof of that lineup. |
