I was going over the internet, when I stumble across a site describing computer/hacker movies as Pre-Matrix, and Post-Matrix. Obviously, Pre-Matrix includes movies like Hackers or Johnny Mneumonic (correct my spelling if necessary). But are there other movies, good or otherwise, worth mentioning? How about Post-Matrix?

I find it kind of sad that other movies are now defined by a trilogy that mostly sucked. Pretty graphics and lots of action don't make up for a craptastic plot/ending. They should have stopped with the first film, as there wasn't enough material for the other two.

I thoroughly enjoyed them as a trilogy. Seriously. Like anything else, I just thought there was way too much hype behind them (constantly we had people at our high school when the second and third ones were released that "questioned their existence" and tried to sound smarter than they were). But for what they presented themselves as, they're incredibly enjoyable movies.
Incidentally, I think this guy hit it on the nail with the new SW episodes:
Quote:
... when I saw that space battle in Revenge of the Sith I did turn to my friend and say, "damn, those are some phat-ass effects!" ... but when I saw the barge scene from Return of the Jedi 20 years ago, all I could think was, "I wonder how Luke is going to get out of this one!"
It's a matter of depth in character and plot development. To the credit of the last two Matrix films, most of the main characters and environment were set by the start of the second movie. So with the exception of some necessary plot thickening, two films left room for a *lot* of action.

I really enjoyed the entire trilogy. I don't see why so many people hated the thrid one, I actually enjoyed the ending to the series.

I too love the trilogy. Sure, as college textbooks they don't make much sense (especially the sequels), but as movies, I'd be hard-pressed to name a more enjoyable viewing experience. Unlike so many movies, they don't take themselves too seriously, and you shouldn't either.
I agree that the "Pre-Matrix" and "Post-Matrix" thing is silly, though.
