I am now beginning the daunting task of reorganizing my entire MP3 library and I would like to find a utility that will actually go through every MP3 and volume level the entire library. I'm not looking for a plug in for a particular player, I want something that will actually modify the MP3 files themselves. Any help would be most appreciated.

I'm pretty sure that would require a recompress. You might look into ReplayGain and a compatable player.

itunes/mmjb, etc does not modify the file just modifies a meta-data file to adjust the volume from what I understand. The replay gain stuff may be the ticket I'm looking for, thanks.
