I'm using boxee almost every night now, and I want to explore the interconnectivity/social media aspect of it. Is anyone else on seek using boxee? If you are let me know. My username is z3rO (that's an O not a zero)
I've tried it out. It's just too painful to have to launch, switch to windowed mode, shut down, launch, move to second monitor, switch to full screen, shut down, launch a third time just to get it to stay full screen on my TV. Once they get that little quirk worked out I might use it more.

i just upgraded from the alpha to the beta, and everything that matters broke all at once. the thumbnails only show up when your mouse is over them, and then to correct this, I attempted to remove and re add my media sources, and they somehow broke the final "add source" button, making it impossible for me to add my media.
way to go releasing a beta that's WORSE than the alpha.
I dl'd it last week on my home media center. So far it's working ok.
It took a couple of logout/back in for it to recognize all of my music files. Is there a "full random" button I'm missing? Why in the hell would you just want to listen to 1 song?
I do like how it accesses online content, however. Kinda nice.
I enabled it to share with my FB, but so far it hasn't "shared" a damn thing.
At least boxee has a forum to search for relevant info.

the online content thing is awesome, and so is the imdb querying feature getting spoilers, info, and album/movie cover images for the thumbnails. I just don't know what's wrong with the build I got last night. Maybe it made a bad combo with the previous version I had installed. I'm going to try to wipe the configuration tonight.

Either boxee dropped some XBMC features or you just didn't know how to use it effectively, cause my xbox 1 could do that before it was ported to linux (i'm thinking before v7).. Should be able to do that for TV shows too. Use TVDB, it has some nice fanart and such.

Yep.. I am right, you don't know how to use BOXEE, Plex, or XBMC effectively.
Duh.. 733MHz processor doesn't handle HD content, but you can run the interface at 720p.. And if you need a remote, just buy the dvd playback kit. Works flawlessly with XBMC... not happy with the look? Throw on a few skins.
BOXEE is just a corporate take on XBMC. So far the only decent advantage over XBMC it's had has been the hulu playback, but that's spotty at best. I look forward to seeing what will come out of the BOXEE camp, but XBMC is still my favorite.

this is quite possibly the most uneducated and least thought through insult I have ever encountered. seriously, how the hell are you going to say anyone doesn't know how to use it effectively? is that even possible?
since it require such wisdom, explain to me how I can use boxee effectively, o-wise fucking tardbag.

what crawled up your ass? you obviously don't know what you are talking about. Some of us having been using it since it was xbmp, and know that boxee is just someone selling what has been the best open source dev program in the past 5 years.

If you've been using boxee since at least 1/20 (probably longer since you've had your htpc a while now) and just now figured out the scrapers... I'd say you're a bit behind the learning curve. Obviously you can get a lot more out of boxee, therefore you're not using it effectively.
If you would have read my other post, you should have inferred that I own an xbox.. Why did you try to tell me what it can and can't do.. Pretty sure I'd know all about that.
Originally I wasn't trying to flame, but now I'm going to. Your boner for this air mouse remote is ridiculous... I think that's the 3rd or 4th thread you've brought that thing up..

maybe i overreacted.
but that doesn't change this question: what is there to know about any of them? It's not like it's a complicated application with a learning curve or something.
how can anyone 'ineffectively' use any of these softwares? it's very fucking simple. you point the cursor at a movie and hit play.
it does scrapers by itself. you don't "use" them. you just add media and hit play.
