montauk park is not too far away and you can wheel on the amonia pipeline trails. they get pretty intense.

for a much better time at a little cost, check out http://www.flatnasty.net/

they are great people who make one hell of an off road park. the owners are super nice people and welcome everybody who has a little common sense. they offer lots of trails with varying difficulties and it is relatively close to rolla.

i've been there about 4 times, and have never had a bad experience.

I'll attest to the roads at the range, good fun, just hold 20 mph up the hill and you'll be fine. my FWD contour can make it no prob.

there are a bunch of us on the Baja Team that go down to a place by fort wood that is pretty cool. Some big mud holes and some rocks and ditches and what not to go crawling in. We are gonna be going down there the first weekend in november if ya wanna go with us send me a PM and we can get together.

The forest rangers told me it was illegal to ride four wheelers and such at the range south of town. People do it all the time, though. If you're talking trucks and stay on the roads, you should be fine.

Flat Nasty is awesome. I went there this summer, and some of the trails are insane. We literally drove over boulders 6' high, or taller...but the "truck" was a highly, highly modified Jeep Wagoneer with 44's, custom suspension, ect..

my rwd makes it up without a prob.

the trails are limited at the shooting range but after it rains there are a couple mud pits that open up. i wish people wouldn't tear that place up cause there's some good deer hunting spots.

technically, you're not suppose to go four wheeling in state or national forests but it's a rumor that the conservationists made an exception for the place down 63 and J. But, if you're caught making new trails, you will be prosecuted.

There's St. Joe Ntl. Park but it's quite a drive. It allows full size and atv's.

What about the place across hwy 63 from the shooting range. Its inbetween the two ends of 6020 at the top of the hill. Theres like a Smokey the bear sign infront of the entrance with a no dumping sign in the woods a little bit. It splits off to the right and left with mud pits towards the right and like a rock hill to the left. Anybody know what im talkin about?

I dont go mudding or anything down there, just shooting, but its a fun little road after you get down the hill, especially after the main range

Just headed down to the range this afternoon. That looks like a cool spot to hang out and shoot some stuff. There was some mud there but not too much, and if it rains pretty good it looks like it would be a little more fun. Do the gravel roads lead to something at the top of the hill past the range or do they just dead end? If anybody ever wants to head out there with me sometime just pm me or something and we can go.

Later, Matt
