Does anyone know if I can easily take off the ice blade from my pair of ice skates and replace it with an inline frame and wheels (on my own and relatively cheaply)? Just wanted to know if I could before committing myself to an expensive professional job.

If you have a tool that can drive rivets into the skate boot than it is probably possible to do yourself. Is this a permanant change? If so than it is worth getting done, if not, it is probably much much easier to buy a pair of inline skates.

If I can find my mom's old pair of skates, then yes, it's permanent. I can probably find that riveting tool at work (The Zone) somewhere, so that sounds promising.

Don't forget you have to remove the ice blade first. I really have no clue how you would do that because they are stuck in well. In 12 years of playing inline hockey I have only ever seen one break off from use.

I would find a place that will just do it for you and see how much it will cost.

When I looked at mine it seemed as if it was secured by a very tight screw; do you think I'll need something better than a drill to remove the blade anyway?

I broke the chassis off my inline hockey skates...not even kidding..

Same thing happened to me. They are rivetted in.
