I'm not sure if the clubhouse is open yet. I played there a couple of weeks ago and it was closed, but there's an "honor system box" where you put in like $2.50 for a green. You might want to call them and ask.

Speaking of the golf course, has anyone heard for sure whether or not they are going to get rid of it? I would be quite sad if they did considering playing golf is my main/only form of excercise around here.

There's one opening out by the go-kart track out by the industrial park.
*sigh* I had this idea to get some people together to make the investment and reopen the abandoned one next to T.J., but it would cost so much...
Really? I had the same idea and did not think it would have cost all that much. Surprising.
Anywho, the one out on highway V may not be open till mid summer. Right now it is almost entirely poured, and wired. We have to build crubs, carpet, finish landscaping, and finish the "clubhouse." It will definately be a fun course. I have played it a few times. It leaves a bit to be desired without curbs and carpet. http://www.rollaskatezone.com/kokomo.html There is not much there now but we are reopening after spring break. Check for updates then.

As far as I know, yes, the golf course will eventually be replaced with a research park. The only problem though is if UMR doesn't have the money to start building, our little golf course will be spared for a little while longer. From what I understand, the first spot they plan to build is where the driving range is.

Hmmm... That comment makes me want to persue the idea. I assume the land is blighted, and may be owned by the city. In which case, it wouldn't be all that much money...

Well I did do a little research on it. The land would have to be completely redone. (Basic grass would not cost much to start out.) The framework would have to be rebuild. (Basic woodwork would be easy and probably the most expensive part of the build.) Finally you would have to completely recarpet. (The "Rock House" right by the old course has a lot of carpet in the basement already. Some of it looked a bit sketch, but some of it is definately salvagable.) My concern was that the one out on highway V will be much bigger and better. You, however, would definately have prime location being right in the middle of Rolla. Just some things to think about.

I actually asked the guy in the club house about it a week or two ago, and he said it is going to a while (5-6 years) before it gets shut down. They have to do a lot of stuff to get everything approved even before they start building.
