Has anyone submitted a Sunshine Law request? I was thinking about submitting one to the university and was wondering if anyone has any tips.

It's Missouri's version of the Freedom of Information Act

I have not submitted one, but I have assisted in preparing documents (read: scanning/copying handwritten notes) to be sent out as part of a Sunshine request. I suggest being as specific as possible, otherwise you're likely to get far more information than you suspect. Also, be aware that, for privacy reasons, the university blanks any student names contained in any documents that are sent out as part of the request.

I'm not really sure what your reasons are for wanting to submit a Sunshine request, but if you know what you want and who has it, you might be able to just contact them directly and request it. Might be faster and easier, might not.

were you apart of the request from the two people who poorly ran the Miner (Michelle Martin and Chris Stryker)? Regarding the stuco budget cuts?

Nothing special, just wanting to satisfy my own curiosity

My exact involvement is a complicated answer. The simplest one is that no I wasn't part of it, but I was asked to help out with getting the paperwork together as a favor to some of my friends who were a part of it.
The more complex answer is that yes, I technically was part of it simply by being an exec member of Student Council at the time, as both the general body and executive board were implicitly named as a parties to the suit. The reasons behind me helping out are the same though.

I was part of the suit too... only because I worked for the Miner at the time and Chris put every editor's name on the paper without asking.
