Does anyone here have the order and times that the lots are checked? I know there are some lots that you can park in after certain times and not get caught. I won't give away my secrets but I park such that I don't have a long walk at all and have never been ticketed.
Hopefully you're not one of the people that parks in front of my house and makes it impossible to find a spot nearby during the daytime.
We get people from the Res College parking here for the entire week, or more sometimes. I understand that in most cases they're not doing anything illegal (the ones that don't park in excess of 48 hours, don't park in front of the fire hydrant, and don't block my drive way), but it gets frustrating sometimes. I guess that's the downside of living a stone's throw away from campus, hah.
If people park in front of my house for more than two days, they usually have their valve stem caps go missing or get a ticket after I call RoPo.

Circumstances don't matter here- the rules are pretty clear. Have a pass, pay the meter, or get a ticket. It's not that tough - if you got a ticket, you deserved it.
Try again. Murder very clearly deprives someone of their rights. Parking in a nearly full lot also deprives someone of their rights--the right of a permitted individual to park in a spot that somebody else is taking up. Parking in such a spot in an empty parking lot deprives no one of such a right, given that the other parking spots are very close and essentially identical.

While that is logically correct it has no bearing on the enforcement of law. I have already stated this in my thread but here we go again. Laws are created using common sense. The enforcement of the law is used EXACTLY as it is written regardless of the forethought that went into making the law. Just look at the DMCA, it was not created to let lobby groups sue single mothers for thousands of dollars, but that is how it is used. There are many other laws that were created for one reason and enforced for another. Regardless of the fact, the laws and rules are there, understand them and abide by them or expect a penalty. Last time I checked the sign on the lot said parking for those with permit 'X', without a clause that says 'unless it is empty'
You could make the same argument about speeding on an empty straight highway during good road conditions, but you are still going to get a ticket. Get over it

Parking in an empty lot deprives the landowner (university) the right of collecting fees for such parking on their property. If they wanted to, they could bulldoze the lots and make pretty gardens with no parking. It's their right.

I know you're not a socialist, so I don't know why you (or anyone else) should expect someone else to subsidize the parking lot you park in while you park there for free.

The only tickets I've gotten have been at the multi. The visitor spots in the first couple rows are absolutely retarded. They put the visitor parking sign in the median that's on the side of the car. Meaning that you don't see it when you've finished parking, and if you're not paying attention when you get out of the car, it's super easy to miss.
The visitor spots are also marked with yellow lines, the ones for students are marked with white. Also, you have to have a registration sticker (free) to park in there at all. Even if you're a student and don't have the free registration thing, you'll get a ticket no matter where you park. Also, the athletes have to have a special one to allow us to park there overnight for our competitions when we're gone overnight.

Money isn't charged to limit who can buy a pass, but rather to generate revenue. You are depriving the University and further the sate's right to generate revenue from land that it owns (parking lots).

I dont know the order that they check them but I do believe there is a particular order. I was in the parking office the other day getting a temp pass and told the lady that I parked in a lot without a sticker and was asking about what if i got a ticket etc.
She said that she didnt think they checked the lot by that time. This was lot H and it was right at 11am which leads me to believe they dont check it before then.
They put a hold on your account I thought? I don't charge it to your student account. And either way, as he's explained, neither of these has happened.
