MirageX is correct. TJ South will be closed. I don't know how that will affect the experience of living in TJ.

Regardless, the RC was built like a tank. Every door in that place is a fire door. RC looks nice b/c it is nice. CS looks nice b/c it was built to look nice. The developers are looking to get their money back from the investment asap, so most things are on the cheap. Door joists are not square, windows are very drafty, carpet falls apart. Those are all things I noticed, and I never lived there, just had a friend that did. Look for the old threads on CS and you will find the crap that it is.

There's also quite the difference between RC1 and RC2. Different contractors. RC1 was built close to on-budget by a good contractor. RC2/3 was built waaay over-budget by a shitty contractor. Look at the workmanship difference. I was surprised when I toured RC2 immediately after construction to find that some of the stairwell slabs had already cracked. They also skimped on soundproofing.

RC2 was also completed on schedule (2 years?). Where as RC1 was a year over due. I think the university really pushed hard for RC2 to get done b/c of their experience w/ RC1, and the building suffered b/c of it.

A little off topic, but it's been a while since I've checked out the Master Plan. It looks like a lot of change is in order... of note the razing of the Basic Engineering building and Miner Rec (which I've heard for years) and the entire Quad complex (news to me). I also had no idea that the Res College would eventually have SIX buildings, taking over the site currently occupied by the Nagogami Terrace apartments. It looks like many of the smaller parking lots on campus, which are always packed, will become future building sites. Am I the only one hoping for a nice ugly parking garage someday? My vote is to take the entire block where the Quad is located now and make a large parking garage, since it's going away anyway.

I'd hope they're not planning on razing the entire Quad any time soon, since there are group offices in Altman now.

forgive me for forgetting which one altman is, but it's the one KMNR is in, right?

In that case, I had heard rumor of trying to relocate the station. Not sure if there's any truth to it.

I don't know why they're planning on doing expansion, but not an overhaul of Schrenk and EE. I can't speak for EE, but any planning/construction should have pretty much all of Schrenk be gutted (like Toomey).

As Ben is the new station manager, I assume he would know.

Hmm. Hadn't heard about this. How far along are the plans? Is there money for it?

They are wanting to scrap the parking lot in front of EE in order to provide the space for the expansion? Interesting...
