The NN wing is done but NW didn't get done. They were going to do it last year but delayed it because they needed room for freshmen. Last year they did the lounge area in North instead. Then they moved on to South tower this summer.

TJ pool was closed and is not getting reopened because of certain Missouri safety law changes. In order to keep the pool up to code, Reslife would've had to spend $20000+(maybe much more). Reslife didn't think it was worth it so they are filling it in.

LOL because that is more than most pools cost to install

Update: A new Dollar General is coming up FAST down 72 just before the family center. Went away for two days and it went from a barely marked concrete building to all shelves installed and partially stocked with two finished signs. Chances are that they'll be open in a week at this rate.

And I somehow missed the burning car news, thanks.

I complained about the pool when it was never filled for a year when I lived in TJ. TJ was advertised as having a pool, and I suppose they did, but it was only full of pond scum and sadness.

Edit: Still marketed as having a pool.

I visited campus yesterday for the first time in a while. The construction plans for TJ are pretty sweet. All of the North and South tower floors will have kitchens. (All of North tower already does in the lounges.) They're going to knock some holes in the walls of South tower so there's bigger windows in the common areas. Lots of other neat stuff.

I also got a look at what they did with CS213. Which is fairly awesome compared to the den of darkness and home of the funky smelling couch that it was before.

Oh, and now Dollar General has been open for almost a week and a half.

Yeah, really. I remember back when one of the south tower floors got the first kitchen installed. And I started a grease fire by accidentally turning a burner slightly past "off" to "Hi" while there was olive oil in it. Never saw such billowing black smoke in my life.

Good times.

I'm still in Rolla, nearly done with grad school. Haven't been in the dorms for around four years now?

I'm not sure if how fast that building went up compared to Walgreens says something about the Rolla area or about Dollar General and Walgreens as companies.

From what I know of walgreens construction, they always get the building up fast and then are too lazy when installing and stocking the guts.
As for Dollar General, there were multiple semis coming to the store while the construction crews were still working on the outside.

Been here the whole time as well,

Walgreen's is nothing special really, I'm guessing a CVS pharmacy will be put up across the road shortly,

It's a shame about the pool though, it was fun to skateboard in.

oh and summerfest sucked balls once again

Ok, I keep hearing that from different people, but what exactly would they have had to do to meet these ambiguous standards?

See, that's the thing. To determine that would have taken some research, maybe a consultant, at least a modicum of effort on somebody's part. Meanwhile, the guy with the backhoe was already there. They probably got a break on disposal fees since that's at least two dump trucks that didn't have to be hauled off. Quick easy solution, and (most likely since this is purely conjecture on my part) without the best interest of the student residents in mind.

Aka, typicality.
