What was it supposed to be for?
I thought a steam locomotive was trying to deliver Christmas presents or something.
Then I got a call from the campus emergency notification and about pissed myself. Didn't they used to send emails before they did the emergency notification tests?

This whole experience left me with visions of a Virginia Tech copy-cat killer running around campus on a shooting spree while the entire student body drops what they're doing to respond to dozens of text messages and phone calls. Or better yet, students trying to hide from said killer giving themselves away with phones that won't stop going off.
Don't get me wrong, it's a nice idea. And yeah those are both pretty unlikely examples. The system is just a little too persistent. If you're in a situation where you can't answer the phone for five minutes it would be okay if the system left a message or sent ONE text message and waited for you to respond to it. Email notification is pretty pointless since you're probably sitting at home contemplating returning to campus to get front row seats to the chaos. I've got an internet plan through T-Mobile so my phone was exploding with notifications from all three services until I responded to one of them. Driving while this system goes off, especially if you're already on the phone, is pretty annoying.
I was in my 11-12:40 E-mag class and got 3 voicemails, 4 calls, and 6 texts until the teacher was wondering why everyones phone was buzzing and told everyone to answer it.
The only thing that really bothered me was the voicemails.

I only entered my texting number, and responded easily. But i agree that they should only send one message and not the persistent mess that the system is right now.
