Does anyone have any experience with either Vessels or The Center? I'm looking for a gym to go to, to lift weights (by myself as I have no one to lift with), during one of my long breaks in between classes in the middle of the day. I was just curious if anyone had any preferences, reservations, or good/bad experiences.

The Center wouldn't be a great choice if you were looking to just lift. They don't have a lot of freeweights and depending on the time of day it can get fairly crowded. It is, however, only $20/month last time I checked. If you're looking for an overall routine (i.e. running as well) then they probably aren't a bad choice.

Hmm. My routine is strictly barbell right now. I don't like machines for lifting for obvious reasons.

I know the quality is not that great, but Gale-Bulman Multi-Useless has freeweights. I'd recommend them simply because you are already paying for them.

The new gym in the multi is awful. 90% cardio junk and like 3 power racks with no benches.

what happened to the old weight room? is it still there? it wasn't pretty, but it was badass if you wanted to lift freeweights

The old rusty one in the rec center is closed and the one that used to be downstairs in the multi has been converted into a varsity only room.

Which is why I'm looking for a real gym to go to lol. I wasn't sure of the condition of our gym and figured it wouldn't suit my needs anyway. Looks like I'll be looking into Vessels then. :/

Just weight until the fitness room opens, I have more free weights then you could shake a stick at.

Is the multipurpose gym worth going to yet? Thinking about selling my home setup for space and going back to the gym idea.

Really depends on what you're looking for in a gym. Has 3 power cages, one dedicated benchpress, from 40lb-110lb EZ curl bars, bunch of machines, smith machine as far as lifting goes. Tons of ellipticals and treadmills a couple of rowing machines and quite a few stationary bikes for cardio purposes.

is the benchpress always busy? going from having like 8 benchpresses downstairs to one available is really gay.
