Welcome to the real world. Companies almost always have a standard on how to use the company name, slogan, and logos. Many companies after changing a logo will even discipline employees that still wear shirts with the old logo. Identity is a lot of what makes up a company (or University in this case). You end up just hurting your own degree in the end.

Yeah, standards are dumb..... *rolling eyes as hard as possible*
Just assimilate. By resisting, you're not "fighting the man" or whatever the fuck you think you're doing; save your fights for something worthwhile.
lol! Please conform, don't speak your mind, thought criminal. I guess people can't disagree with anything anymore, they should just go along with everyone else.

You're a fucktard. I didn't say to stop complaining, I just said to stop intentionally using the name wrong. What Chank said is exactly right--you're devaluing your own degree by refusing to conform TO THE STANDARD. Speak your mind all you fucking want, but don't be a fucktard for fucktards sake. FUCK

The word "bi-partisan" usually means some larger-than-usual deception is being carried out.
... I honestly just say "I go to school in Rolla". Everybody knows what I'm talking about, and I don't hurt the new name by calling is UMR....
Me too. I cannot bring myself to say the new name...the reply of, "I go to Rolla" brings backs the desired response that Missouri S&T does not.

Old habits die hard. Much like most people in St. Louis refer to I-64 as highway 40, always have and probably always will...
It's not 40/64 anymore? What the hell? I've been gone too long.
And I went to Rolla. Nobody around here knows what either UMR or MST is, which just goes to show that the name change really didn't do much. I wish they would have just put the money towards publicity and making ANY name more well known.

Blame it on that fuckin Yankee. The one that sits in that house on the corner of campus and counts his $300,000 a year from renaming the university to further his legacy.
