I was a summer RA once. They generally have nothing to do. I spent at least half my time at TJ talking to the two lifeguards. Couple this with the general "in charge" sense that "newbie" RAs seem to get, and you get dumbasses trying to throw their weight around. I don't really know much of this specific story but I'm 99% sure you could apply this theory to it successfully.

As for the up/down, omfgwtf, its a free service. The hardware I installed a year ago is very unstable for some reason. I'm going to be changing some of it out when I get off my lazy ass and do it. Before the hardware upgrades a year ago it had a 99.9% availabilty for 2 years straight.

That's right, Ryan. This is a free service and we all thank you for it. Even if it were only up one hour a month, it would be better than nothing, and we would still all be in your debt. Some people need to stop whining.

And as for summer R.A.s, you get both kinds. Some want to do as little as possible, because filling out incident reports requires, well, moving. Many would much rather live and let live than seek (pardon the pun) those who are getting into "trouble." However, some seem to think that the gravity of their new summer R.A. job exceeds that of a neutron star. These people can be dealt with simply. Just ignore them and know your rights. Neither Evie nor Dana ever had any right to shut Seek42 down, so it won't happen. All they can really do is throw their sweaty weight around and try to intimidate. Just give them a cheeseburger, and they'll probably go away.

Yeah, with the severity that Evie and I'm sure other past RD's have cared about enforcing rules, it surprised me that they would keep alcohol in their apartments, seeing as how unless they could somehow teleport it in there, they would have to carry it through areas where it isn't allowed. That whole rule really bothered me the whole time I was with ResLife. I hate people who enforce stupid rules, that's all I have to say.

As a previous poster stated, Evie hates those that a) stand up to her, or b) don't automatically get on their knees and prepare their mouth for insertion upon her arrival. I know the past few semesters she really took an awesome dislike to me for some reason, and during the last semester was the cause of many painful visits to Tina's office. But she's gone now, and we have somebody new. I haven't seen them yet, I can only hope it isn't one of the candidates I saw leave her office which, in essence, was an Evie clone. Either way the same old stuff is going to keep happening no matter who is in charge. And just remember that if the new RD somehow gets out of line, or just pisses you off outright, it is important that any action you take cannot be pinned on you. That is all.

Oh, and hockey bags also work quite well, you can fit a lot more in them.

Only problem with that is when it's 3 in the morning, you're already sloshed, and all the alcohol is swishing around inside the bottles (just as a duty team walks by). D:

Just follow Douglas Adams' (and Towlie's, for that matter) advice and always have a towel. Prevents things from going clinkity clink at night.

She looks sort of like Evie, only a lot fatter, but she's not nearly as bitchy. She might change when the new semester shows up, but she seems manageable right now. Not as bad as Evie, at least.

Good, I'm glad she's gone. I hated her and I never lived in TJ. She's a boil on the butt of humanity. May she die of the plague and rot in hell

Tell us how you REALLY feel haha

I really hope Dana is more laid back. Our room next year is directly above her apartment thingy in south tower. This could be a long year if she hates noise. Or a short one, if we get booted out of TJ after a few weeks. That's what we get for signing up for a quiet floor. *slaps forehead*

Yeah but 2 south is awsome (minus the new RA). I lived in 265 when it was first a guy floor, and it was the perfect spot for water ballooning people as they're walking in/out those doors

the 2south RA next year is Ryan Van Booven. He's fairly laid back so you won't have too many problems with him.
