not that i doubt you, but i find that kinda hard to believe...seeing as that would constitute a federal offense
seriously...if they're doing that, call the local postal inspectors office

Pre-sorted standard? Trash. Non-profit organization? Trash. Bulk mailings? Trash. First class or envelopes that have the words "Return Service Requested" or "Address Service Requested" are about the only thing that stays or gets forwarded during the breaks. There's a few other exceptions, but I can't remember as it's been a couple semester's since I was one of their drones.

Get a PO box at the Rolla post office. It's worth it to not have to change your address every 5 months during your 6-year stay in Rolla. And they don't throw away your mail.
Very handy for Quad people, at least. TJers, if you can make it to Schrenk for classes, you can walk 3 more blocks to the post office.
If you don't want to go that drastic..just go to the PO before you leave for break and tell them to hold your mail till you come back. If it's a summer, forward it to your house.
I had this problem too a few weeks ago, and FedEx will NOT change the address unless the shipper will contact them directly and request it. Unfortunately Newegg does NOT do that anymore for any reason whatsoever. So I found a loophole, you have the power to tell FedEx to stop the package in transit, and to return it to shipper. Well at least for Newegg's policy, if they get a returned to shipper item they refund the full price you paid. So i just canceled it and ordered another making sure to change my ship to address.
Not sure if that helps you or not.

I too have been missing mail. During the 'normal' semesters I get mailings from my 401(k) provider... Have not seen a one since May... Thank goodness for on-line banking...

Not a problem. I've found the PO box to be most convenient. It's like $19 for six months, it's really not too bad. They take care of it all there, and they hold your mail automatically if you're out of town and aren't able to clean out the box.
