Even though I'm not exactly well versed in complex math, it seems to be that this property of "nullity" shares a large connection with infinity (almost like the inverse, in a way). Am I right or way off base?

I got the vibe that it somewhat represents anti-infinity in a way, but it doesn't seem that groundbreaking. All he is doing is giving a name and symbol to something that we've known about for a while.

I'll second that. After watching it, it seems that he's just given a symbol for us to put instead of writing "undefined/DNE." Granted, I'm not a huge math guy, but what he's doing doesn't seem to be some groundbreaking new math operation.

i like in the comments on that page someone has sarcastically posted "when does a pacemaker ever divide by zero?"

this guy doesn't seem basically what hes done is named the lim as x->0 of 0/x .

Incidently, it's saying he found a way to divide by zero, but then divides by zero in his proof and in one of his definitions. Again, I'm no math guy, but something seems fishy about that.

Remember that you cant prove 1+1=2. Math is entirely based on assumptions at a very basic level.

I might have to pull the 'bullshit' card on this one. Zero is a tricky bitch when you're starting with / manipulating it. Watch the .ram for his little "proof" on the white board.

First and foremost, 1/0 is not defined. If the denominator (say, n) in 1/n approaches zero, the term will indeed approach infinity, and that is what we have defined infinity as, not simply 1/0.

That throws a wrench in things.

I think his turning 0^0 to 0^(1-1) is a pretty nasty flaw to begin with.

Consider this:
0^0 = 0^(0-0) = (0^0)*(1/(0/0)) ...
That could go on forever.

Anywho, what have we discovered? Nothing. What he calls "nullity" is simply zero over zero. He claims that computers will be able to understand this better, but he is simply full of crap.

So yeah, that guy is a douche. There's a reason why Newton couldn't figure it out. :roll:
