This is one of the very few blogs I read regularly, and I just really liked this entry:

I thought I would share.

Pretty much right on. If there were no new laws in the next 10 years or so, I wouldn't mind.

someone needs to start a new political party, or bring one of the better smaller ones into the limelight, because I think that both republicans and democrats have lost sight of the views of the American public. In fact, those two parties grew because they weren't extremely left or right. This doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

To be honest, I think parties need to be done away with and the elected officials actually represent those that put them in office. This nation would cease to stagnate politically if that was the case.

There's already a really good one.
clicky
Quote:
Are Libertarians liberal or conservative?

Libertarians are neither. Unlike liberals or conservatives, Libertarians advocate a high degree of both personal and economic liberty. For example, Libertarians agree with conservatives about freedom in economic matters, so we're in favor of lowering taxes, slashing bureaucratic regulation of business, and charitable -- rather than government -- welfare. But Libertarians also agree with liberals on personal tolerance, so we're in favor of people’s right to choose their own personal habits and lifestyles.

In a sense, Libertarians “borrow” from both sides to come up with a logical and consistent whole -- but without the exceptions and broken promises of Republican and Democratic politicians. That's why we call ourselves the Party of Principle.

I score pretty damn far down the Libertarian path with every political quiz I take, I need to start acting for them... Goddamnit, I need to do something. Not to get on a soapbox, but this thread just confirms every reason I need to start becoming an active Libertarian.

I covered my bases, no need to correct me...

If you're looking for something local, there's the Missouri Libertarian party. More likely to get stuff done locally, and once we get started locally, it's more likely to spread.

http://www.lpmo.org/

I predict a big libertarian turnout in '08 if McCain or Guiliani runs against Obama or Hillary. They're all pretty much the same idealogically and politically.

I noticed there wasn't a Phelps county chapter. I'd like to help in forming one, if that's what you're thinking.

If only we could have the Republicans of years past. The ones who truly believed in small government.

To borrow a quote from MC Hawking, I want to be "getting paid and laid". If Democrats get their way, I won't be getting paid. If Republicans get their way, I won't be getting laid.

I have a funny feeling that I'm going to be getting hit with the AMT this year. I know I make quite a bit for a 25 year old, but I made good grades in high school so I could go to college, I made decent grades in college to get my first job, and I think I bargained fairly well (along with having good recommendations from my first job) to get my current job. What have the welfare bums like my stepsister ever done to deserve any money, be it mine or other people's?

Apparently punishing success isn't just a European thing anymore.
