Anyone know why a news van was on campus yesterday afternoon? I was hoping it would be for something a little more interesting than the approved name change..

Well, there was the name change, the research park, the 3.8% increase in tuition and fees next year to account for inflation, and several other issues that were brought before the Board of Curators.

I just have the standard scholarships from the university, do any of you guys bring in scholarships from outside of the university? I'd like to not have to take on loans next year if at all possible.

Yep, and they don't cap the amount until you reach an extraordinary amount of money.
I get $12,500 a year from the school, and my freshman year had $2,000 in outside scholarships. Soon I'm going to get married, and Pell Grants and such will be added to that.
Yay, maybe my meager salary will go up to because of inflation.
Or not
No, see, it already did! When minimum wage goes up EVERYONE has more money! Inflation be damned, let's keep raising the min wage! Hell, $6.50? How about $7.25! Elect us again and we'll have everyone making $10 an hour! That won't eat away at the real wages of everyone making more than min wage, and won't cause inflation to rise.....
(stupid buggers)

Be careful you don't work. My Pell grants all but disappeared when I got married. But thanks to some clever tax skillz, we'll both get a little bit more Pell for 07-08. It's sad too, I was used to the full Pell.

Actually, if you make minimum wage, I'm pretty sure your salary will go up at the same rate as the consumer price index. But if you don't make minimum wage, well than you are screwed.

haha funny... I hope you're not saying that employers voluntarily raise salaries based on CPI. trust me - they (as in retail and food service to say the least) find any way to cut your pay just enough to be legal and to keep people working.

I'm pretty sure this was written into Missouri's new minimum wage law. Though personally I think this is a bad idea.
