I think the idea is brilliant. I have wanted a similar system for books for a while. It looks useful and very promising.

It sounds cool - but why go to Google with this idea? Wouldn't Amazon be more interested in something like this? I guess Google has the big scan books project, and that data set would help them train their algorithm... but then what?

I'll agree that Amazon seems a way more likely buyer for the end product. But the program needs the data before it can be of any real use. So, my thoughts are that google would make the program and license it to Amazon/Borders/Barnes & Noble

thanks for posting this . ive been wondering since last year what his idea was since he never gave any hints in his previous videos . sorta neat idea but i dont know how useful it will be . i dont think picking a novel to read is that taxing of an issue on a persons mind .
