I'm not really looking to constantly post news articles in here but this is something that I think would effect allot of people in here who do campus jobs or work part time.

I think they'd have to.

They do have to. The same thing happened last January when Missouri's minimum wage went up. If you are employed by any large company in Missouri, including MST, they are required by law to raise your wages to meet the minimum wage.(Excludes business grossing less than $500,000 a year and tipped workers) Last year on January 1st, I got a $.15 raise due to minimum wage rising and this year I get a $.40 raise. (I work at the front desk at TJ so we don't really get regular raises)

It may seem weird to say this, but front desk, CLC, and fit room workers don't really deserve raises. The work we do doesn't even really deserve min. wage, but they have to pay us that. That being said, I don't complain about not getting raises every semester.

That would be very true if the hour was miserable, but since 90% of my time is spent either doing homework, watching tv shows/movies, or playing video games, I feel $7/hour is plenty. Basically, the things I do at the front desk, I would be doing in my room anyway. Why not get paid $7/hr to do what has to be done anyway.
P.S. - At the CLC and Fit room, it's more like 99-100% of the time is spent doing pretty much whatever you want to do.

And now the price of everything will increase, because every business has to increase their employees wages, which means they have to increase prices to maintain their profit margins. Of course, all the supplies they buy (raw materials, etc.) will also go up in price, so their prices will go up even more.

but will it be that big of a price increase? I mean, I remember when they boosted the min wage last year, but I don't think everybody boosted their prices that much.

The end is near!

I think this is less likely than the said business cutting back on staff. Then everyone gets paid a few cents more an hour to make up for the 2-3 people that they laid off to keep the profit margins the same.

Yeah that's my experience with these things. Company's will just cut back hours, give employees more work then they had before or you'll find that they wont hire replacements when people leave.
