Life is a disease
sexually transmitted, terminal, and fatal.
The proper name for that drink is "Gambler's Delight".
No, I haven't read TFA (so if that's mentioned in the article, forgive me for being Captain Obvious) because apparently mil-net will not let me get to the BBC. Probably not because of censorship, but because of incompetence.
Anyway, I have witnessed firsthand what that drink is capable of doing. It will definitely fuck someone up quick.
Its hard to believe that people can take any thing caffeine related seriously. Red bull has about 10 mg of caffeine per once about the same or less than coffee. Espresso has about 50 mg of caffeine per once. Realistically once can of red bull (80 mg) one shot of espresso (100 mg) and a cup of coffee might be as high as (180 mg). If High caffeine mixed with booze was the problem rum and coke would have been dropping people dead for a while.
The real evil shit in red bull is glucuronolactone. It is my understanding that your body naturally produces this in the liver to break down fats. Also I understand that this among other things triggers your body to be in “fat breakdown” mode and allows more alcohol into your system or just does not filter it out as fast because it has been chemically triggered not to. The danger is that not every ones body produces a uniform amount of this chemical to trigger the liver and the rest of the metabolic system. Glucuronolactone is very much like a low potency form of GHB. Just as your liver makes this acid to break down a fat, GHB can be made by using degreaser to break down pipe cleaner.
This is very much like the bodies reaction to GHB and alcohol which has a known toxicity, and has lead to many deaths.
