Anybody know an easy way to do it? I'd like to hook my laptop up to the big screen in my living room. My laptop only has VGA out, and the TV only has s-video in (the yellow/red/white composite input). I've got the cables to do the audio already, but I'm having no luck finding a VGA to s-video cable. Anyone got any suggestions for ways to do this?

If your lappy doesn't have an s-video port (I'm surprised it doesn't, most do), then you'll have to buy a converter, as far as I know. Look at spending around $50 for one of those.

I made one of these without the capacitor and I can tell that it degrades the signal any. I have mine running out of my laptops s-video port and into the TV’s VGA port, though I expect it will work in reverse to.

That is composite (RCA) to S-video, not VGA.

Then the question I have is, where can I get a converter? I haven't found anything that looks like its what I need.

99% of laptops w/ VGA out only work with another monitors. Those cables won't work
