Ok, based on my previous post on buying a dell i have decided to build my own. I have never actually built my own computer so i will ask help from here as i continue to do it (i hope to get it done over winter break).

Ok..first on the list is my motherboard...i was able to find a very good deal on one that has gotten really good reviews. Plus it comes packaged w/ a processor and power supply, tell me what you think and give suggestions.

Phase I: finding MOBO and CPU (also includes Power Supply)
XFX GeForce 680i LT SLI Motherboard Bundle -
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Processor 2.40GHz OEM
Ultra X3 1000 Watt SATA Power Supply

Subtotal: $600

Computer Total: $600

It's like a community thing. It takes a village to build a computer or something like that.

I have been hearing alot about the NVIDIA 9800 series. I hear it is supposed to come out this or next month, yet i have heard no other official information...can someone fill me in. Would i be better off waiting till it came out to build my comp...or has gaming not yet caught up to the potential of the 9800's and i am better of sticking to an 8800 GT

Nice system. Be sure to check it with your local IST to make sure all the parts line up, but you should be pleased with the hardware. It'll last longer than that dell you wanted, and run better too.
