General info for those interested: XP (don't know about Vista) doesn't really allow you to set folder-by-folder passwords for shares, but it does let you set access controls based off of user and/or group names. Meaning that the external user will be prompted for a username and password when they first access the shares, and that username will control what shares they have access to. The shares they don't have access to may still show up, but the user will just receive an access denied error when they try.

How to allow only certain users/groups access to certain shared folders:
1. On the "Sharing" tab click the "Permissions" button
2. Add/Remove the users/groups until you have the account(s) you want to have access and they have the permissions you want them to have.
3. On the "Security" tab make sure the account(s) have the same permissions.
4. Make sure the folder is actually shared out.
5. (optional) Add a "$" at the end of the share name to keep it from showing up when people access your computer's shares.

Caveat 1: It will prompt everyone who access you computer for a username/password, so make sure you have a guest account of some kind without a password if you want to allow anonymous user access.
Caveat 2: This is about 1/2 real knowledge, 1/4 pulled out of my ass, and 1/2 drunken computer advice.
