Or you could check out CenturyLink (Embarq). They're faster, cheaper, have better customer service, and unlike the cable company the service ISN'T: Shity, spotty as hell, subject to slowing down at peak hours due to network load, or just dying all together for little-no reason at all.

Internet had been awful slow 24/7 for a couple weeks so we called Fidelity. Guy came out and ran a few tests on the modem then checked the cable hookups at the box. Came back inside an said there was a bunch of noise on the line, did we have anything else hooked up? He got us a shielded line and left.
At this point I got the service I expected, tried out the internet a bit... it was marginally better, but not where it should have been. Got a knock on our door and the guy was back w/ a modem in hand. Said he had gone back to the shop and checked on the modem remotely and it had dropped 200+ packets in 20 minutes, so the modem needed to be replaced.
So, I have no problems w/ Fidelity... esp since we can pull a few TV channels while only having internet and I'll definitely be sticking w/ them if they get 12mbps upgrade
Embarq might be great, but you have to get out of a contract to start off with and then you definitely won't have HD channels... plus DSL is just gay, it's too reminiscent of dial-up for me.

I've been rather happy with Fidelity, when I needed service hooked up they told me it would be anytime within the next 2 days... it took 45 minutes for him to show up, hook it up, and be gone. I get reasonable speeds and consistent quality. No complaints here.
I've got embarq, and the service has been really shitting for like a week now. Every night (including right now) since last thursday my speeds have been atrocious. I tried calling customer service but they're pretty much useless. I'm paying for 3mb down, but check out what I'm currently getting: http://www.speedtest.net/result/660593471.png
Call them up and complain. Of the 2.5 years we've been at our house, I've only ever had a service interruption (other than forgetting to pay the bill) once... it was well after midnight too. They gave me a month of free internet.
