I'm looking for a program that functions like 'the Renamer' does for tv shows and movies. A lot of my music collection has inconsistent naming and/or ID3 tags, for example some of one band may be named 'Minus the Bear' and another may be named 'Minus The Bear'; the capitalization of 'the' screws up iPods when I'm looking to listen to a band according to Artist.

I'm hoping someone knows of something that will scan the folder and file names then scrap from a database the correct information and edit the file name and ID3 tags to correspond.

Any ideas?

I think my roommate found something that does it w/in foobar. But iTunes is kinda like IE when it comes to tags. (it likes to make its own rules)

although i haven't messed with easytag, an advantage of MB picard is it uses the musicbrainz song database and scrapes for most common information allowing you to automatically organize individual songs.

Picard is by far the best choice. If I remember correctly, it makes a digital fingerprint of the song, and uses that fingerprint to locate correct information in the absence of ID3 tags.
