I'm looking for a program that functions like 'the Renamer' does for tv shows and movies. A lot of my music collection has inconsistent naming and/or ID3 tags, for example some of one band may be named 'Minus the Bear' and another may be named 'Minus The Bear'; the capitalization of 'the' screws up iPods when I'm looking to listen to a band according to Artist. I'm hoping someone knows of something that will scan the folder and file names then scrap from a database the correct information and edit the file name and ID3 tags to correspond. Any ideas? |

I think my roommate found something that does it w/in foobar. But iTunes is kinda like IE when it comes to tags. (it likes to make its own rules) |

although i haven't messed with easytag, an advantage of MB picard is it uses the musicbrainz song database and scrapes for most common information allowing you to automatically organize individual songs. |

Picard is by far the best choice. If I remember correctly, it makes a digital fingerprint of the song, and uses that fingerprint to locate correct information in the absence of ID3 tags. |
