I recently was out of town for a bit and while out, lightning seemed to have disabled my HDs. 1 20GB and 1 200GB both Maxtor. While my 20 will spin up and start to click, my 200 will only sound like it wants to power on but to no avail.

This is where you come in. Does anyone have the expertise to recover data off of both of these hard drives? I would really appreciate it and will have a 'landing drive' for all said data.

Please either respond here to send me an email at mirpkered@gmail.com

I've been successful at recovering files from a failed hard drive in the past. Even the ones that click violently have had a large chunk of files successfully recovered.

Fair warning, the file names and directory structure for the files will probably be ignored. You'll have to organize all your shit again.

I can help. I'll need the failed hard drive and a working one as a refugee camp. Bring data cables if you can as well.

Awesome! I don't mind the organization at all so that isn't a big deal. Does Thurday or Friday work for you? And I do have cables so that won't be a problem.

Any day this week will work. Recovery will take a few hours, so it might be best just to leave me with the drive for a whole day or so.

I'm hanging around KMNR a lot, so feel free to drop by. I can get the drive in/on a machine and get recovery going in a few minutes.

I'm curious how you're getting around the click-of-death. Care to share?

I'll be by tomorrow if that works for you. I think I recall where KMNR is. Is it over by the grotto? It's been a while since I've been on/around campus. I'll be off work at 3:30.

Not without bullshitting you to death. It's the program that gets around it.

We're in Altman Hall of the Quad, right next to Leach Theater. If you hear blaring bad music, that's us.

BS or not, I'm still curious. What's the program then?
