So, there was a thread about this on mstforum, but it's obviously inexistant at the moment.

Who wants to pick a nice day and get a game of baseball (or at least catch, or some BP) together?

There are two options that I can think of, both of which cost very little: 1) Play at Schuman (or Green Acres) and lose a bunch of balls in the lake (or woods); 2) Pay $3/hour to play at Ber Juan and lose far less balls.

I vote for 2. I have two dozen brand new baseballs that I've been dying to use. I'd rather not lose them all in Schuman Lake within two hours. Among 'the regulars,' we can take turns reserving the fields (from The Centre) for $3. Pretty much any other field in Rolla either sucks or is out of the question (trust me, I know).

Slow-pitch softball is another option (a much more laid back one at that). We could probably play at Schuman without losing a ton of balls, unless any of you are decent lefties.

Anyway, post here and maybe we can get a semi-regular schedule going before summer strikes.

yeah, I've been meaning to start something up, especially now that it's nice out. We could go to the Ber Juan, the fields at the rec center aren't all too bad either, I was just out there hitting at the batting cage with a few friends, and its near impossible to lose anything there. I imagine that Schuman is still crazy waterlogged after all the rain and flooding, but I haven't been down there lately.

Yes it is, but I haven't been in the ballfield. I can't imagine Rolla Parks and Rec wants people traipsing around their infield at the moment anyway, what with it being soaked and hasn't had time to bake off yet (well, maybe today it did some.)

Anybody know anything about the batting cages down at Ber Juan? Do they work? Do you have to bring anything?

They cost 50 cents, and they're locked most of the time (unless there are city league games going on).

Anyway, let's get some days/times thrown out there so we can have some idea of when people are free. Fridays and Saturdays are, by far, the best days for me. Here's my schedule:
Sunday: Work all day.
Monday: Class till 4:30.
Tuesday: Class/work all day and night.
Wednesday: Class till 4:30.
Thursday: Class till 3:15, free till 7:00.
Friday: Class till 2:00.
Saturday: Usually nothing.

I'd be game for this... I haven't hit in a looooong time though, only thrown it around a lot.

During the week I'm free from like 4pm onward except Thursdays, meeting at 5:30pm.

Weekends I'm around for the most part (except this coming one)

I'd be happy just going out and throwing it around. I'll have to check out those cages too, try to get my swing back

I'm in. I haven't been able to play in a good long while.

Here is a vote for playing on a Friday afternoon.

I ought to be good for all of next weekend. Might go back to the cage at multi this afternoon, depending on whether I want to do that or watch the Cardinals beat the life out of the Astros. Cochise, you and Patty are more than welcome to join me. call the cell phone sometime after 5, it's on facebook. I got a radio I can bring out if you wanna listen to the game, and the lights ought to go on when it gets dark.

Friday afternoons are best, or Saturday early in the afternoon. Most other times I'm booked.

Friday at 3:00 is perfect. Have we decided where? Oh, and where is my best bet to pick up a glove for huge hands?

st. louis or jeff city. I've been all over the place down here, and all I find for the most part is softball stuff. I didn't look much at the gloves though, so you can try either Hibbet sports across the walmart parking lot or keysport all the way down just past jc pennies and that little strip mall over there.

Any place I can rent or borrow a glove for a while? I've got one at home but that's a four-hour trip I'd rather not make. TJ has some, I thought, can I get one from there for an evening if I'm not a resident?
