The police don't like me being in the EE building working on radios at odd hours of the night, and I like to talk over ham radio from home, so I decided to use a program that allows me to control the radios remotely and speak through them through any voip program. It's called Ham Radio Deluxe and has a Remote Server to allow access through port 7805, or whatever port I desire. However i'm pretty sure that S&T isn't letting connections through so i'm just wondering how to make this work before I talk to IT.

The police didn't like me being in Schrenk after midnight to work on senior design - talk to your department secretary to see if you can get an after hours pass to stay in the lab. I know this doesn't solve the technical problem, but might get you around the police/security problem.

That's strange. I stay well after midnight in Schrenk (CLC) and EE (lab, working on all kinds of random projects) regularly, and they're always fine with my being there. They just say to turn out the light and be sure the door's closed when I leave, since they lock the door.

One possible method, maybe, is to VPN to your home computer or use a remote desktop program, and run the VOIP client & Ham Radio Deluxe there. I've never tried VPNing from campus.
