Drum and Bass has consumed me over the last coulple of years. I find myself spending any extra money on records for myself and my radio show on Wednsday morings at 6 to 8 on KMNR. I was curious to know if anyone else knows about this style of music and if you do what are you thoughts on it.
uh.. my brother spins drum and bass. he was a DJ at kmnr last year. but he graduated. jon swagman. He's got tons and tons of D&B vinyl. Ive gained an appreciation for it cause of the hypnotic and complex patterns. however, it is not mainsteam at all and i doubt that most people have a clue what it even is. much less the difference in electronic genres in general as the previous poster made obvious. [bass 305 is not drum and bass]

I don't know what kind of music Bass 305 is, I just said it was awesome. I know a lot of their stuff is synthesyzer work (come on, you can't sustain 30 Hz with a drum...) but as a guy who likes to play around with stereo setups, I like to test my stuff, and Bass 305 is one of the discs I play.

Excuse' moi....perhaps I do not fully understand the "Drum and Bass". I took it as "Drum" and "Bass". I like 'bass' music. Bass 305 is 'Bass' music. I'm humbly sorry o' master of D&B music for my misinterpretation.

D&B is awesome. I don't have nearly enough of it for how good it is.. I have some dieselboy and some AK1200.. had some Bad Company, but didn't like them so much.. a D&B producer/DJ friend of mine told me BC was sorta responsible for making it popular music, but I honestly didn't like what I heard of them. This is some stuff he recommended to me, but I have had a hard time finding much of it. Here are his exact words:
Technical Itch (any tech itch is good, hes been around for ages)
Dom and Roland ( just released chronology album, its great)
Evol Intent - (have GREAT mixes)
Pendulum (not really dark, but SUPER popular: see "another planet" and "vault")
Bad company - (made dnb popular)
kemal and rob data (aka konflict) - (every tune they did was a masterpiece!)
Gridlok - my personal fave... his style is unique
other good artists-
concord dawn
ed rush and optical
kaos karl k, and dieselboy
they do some amazing collaborations....
some good new dnb cds -
chronology by dom and roland
the dungeon master's guide by dieselboy
Any idea where I can find some music by these artists.. or other artist recommendations? Really would like to have some more D&B.
here is a list of what I have from the top of my head
Tech Itch - Pressure Drop, Soilders
Dom and Roland - Chronology ep**
Evol Intent - Corrupt cops
Pendlum - back to you, another planet
Bad Company - Bullit time ep, True Romance (Vega, D-Bridge)
Gridlok - (Also one of my favorite producers right now) heatwave, vengence, tricks ep**
Concord Dawn - morining light, don't tell me**
Ed Rush and Optical - we want your soul (ed rush and optical), but I going to buy there out of the box album and dvd
as far as cd's ...
Dungeon master's guide
Swarm - Enter the hive-- These cats are out of philly and they are tearin sh*t up right now they have one of the best MC's in dnb Armanni Reign rev-e Chronic Logiall Disorder -- Dj / Producer out of mayland good blend of exclusive tracks from some up and coming producers. Like spor and himself Rev-e
I have much more cd's and vinyl, but this is the best I can do off the top of my head...
pm me if you want a mixed cd, copies of any of the studio mixes, or just a list of what I have
most likely attached to the drum and bass shoulders.
I used to be a d&b Dj in boston. I have a shitton of it if you want some. Had to sell all my records when I went to school , but meh dont have time to spin anyway.
Dieselboy is the shit...that's about all I've got to say on the matter.
dieselboy makes me want to snort an ounce of heroin and then go on a killing rampage while i dance into the night...i mean dieselboy is some awesome shitznite.
john digweed is some good stuff. dunno if it's drum and base though.
