Does anyone know how to burn avi format to DVD so I can play it on a DVD player? If you do, could you please help? I have no clue how to do it and would prefer a step by step walkthrough of the procedure. Thanks.

You can take an AVI and burn in in a VCD format that most dvd players can read. I use the program NERO 6.

Problem is I run into problems where some AVI cannot be burned. So I Convert them to MPEG format which takes forever and that makes the files bigger so they dont fit on the disk etc.

Ever had any trouble with it? I've had trouble with burning my soccer matches to disk.

Do I need Adobe Premeir Pro DVD-Encoder or just Adobe Premeir Pro?

Neither.

You can use the free trial-version of TMPGEnc and encode in the MPEG-1 -- aka V-CD format -- from now to eternity. Otherwise, use the demo for the 14 days or what-ever to encode MPEG-2 -- aka DVD video. Since MPEG-2 is a licenced alograrithm, you'll have to purchase a full version to continue encoding past the trial period.

TMPGEnc is the best MPEG encoder on the market. After you have the files prepared, you can use almost any DVD burning utility to put the files on a DVD.

You could also use VirtualDub to re-encode all your video files into one single codec that burns well. MPEG creates pretty large files for the quality.
