The class list for SS06 was posted, and I'm trying to figure out my schedule.
For IST 141, it lists the lecture, on MWF as being 3.0 credit hours. Then, the lab, which currentley says ARR for who, when and where, as another 3 hours. So is the whole thing 6 hours (seems like a lot for a class) or is it 3 hours for the lab and lec combined?
Hmm, same with IST 286. It shows the lec being on MW and the lab on F, each 3 hours. Doesn't seem right to me
I took IST 141 last summer and it was a MTWRF class for 1 hour each day.
I believe they make it 6 hours a week to make up for the short semester.
The class counts as 3.0 credit hours.
I dont know if the following still applies, but here is how it was for me when I took the class.
What will most likely happen is that you'll have lecture for the first part of the class period. There was never any in-class exercises, and lab was just a time to get help and complete the homework, so attendence of lab was optional. To do the assignments at home, MS Access and MS Project is needed on your own computer.
I believe IST 286 is still the same way, lab is used to ask the teacher questions and get help on the homework.

They are both (286 and 141) 3 hour classes. If they are 3 times a week, it will all be in the same computer lab, and at least one day a week will supposedly be a lab day. If it is only 2 days a week (like my 286 is this semester), one day will be lecture and one day will be a lab where you actually do the stuff, possibly in different rooms. (like this semester)
I believe the reason why they put both lecture and labs on Joe Auto-Fellatio is that they can have multiple lab sessions (smaller class size) and have one big lecture. However, if there aren't enough students for the need of multiple labs, just the 1 lab and lecture show up.
