Anything goes, I would be sad as well if I couldn't use my AK or M4... Hopefully the club will be a place where people can have fun shooting as well as have the opportunity to take part in competitions when they want.

nothing weird, just normal Missouri laws. Don't transport it loaded, make sure the ammo and the rifle are not within the same compartment of the vehicle.
The gun doesn't have to be cased to transport, but it's a good idea just to keep from being hassled if you're stopped and to keep the gun from getting beat up.
a little bit off topic, but does anyone know of a good place around here to buy a case for my gun. I bought a gun on rolla net, but it didn't come with a case, and walmart doesn't have cases this time of the year. I need a case that will fit a rifle with a scope.

If you plan on the club buying rifles, where are you going to store them? If individuals buy the rifles, it's up to them where they store them. UMR police will not store them for you and you can't bring them on campus so you'll have to store them off campus. If the club buys weapons for loaners, the club will have to have a facility to store the guns. Same thing for any ammunition the club buys. Security is going to be a big deal. I'm up for a UMR club and would most definitely be interested in joining if it gets off the ground, but there are a lot of factors that must be considered.
Has anyone even talked to the owners of the Rolla Gun Club yet? If not, they would probably be interested in knowing if another club is wanting to use their facilities. They also may be willing to help you get the club off the ground.

I'm definitely in, i would love to take out my rifles and go shooting, I also am willing to let others shoot my guns, i've got a couple of 22's and a SKS, a 308 and some other fun stuff to shoot.

Damn fine question. My first answer would be that one of the officers of the club hold onto them and bring them to the range at the proper time. The obvious problem with that is how to handle transferring those weapons/ammo when that person leaves UMR. I may be able to talk to some of the owners of the Rolla Gun Club to see if, on top of allowing us the use of their range, they would be willing to store our guns. The owners of RGC are really nice and helpful, but I would understand if that becomes too much of a liability, etc. Also, I'll be up at the range Saturday morning, and I'll see what their take is on a rifle club.
Of course, judging from the amount of feedback here, I don't see rifle supply as being a problem with plenty of people willing to let others use their guns, and anyone can buy ammo.

Well, it doesn't *have* to get off the ground... I enjoy taking anyone out to shoot.
An addition, we will be needing 10 members to start the club and help organize a constitution... PM me if you are definitely willing to join up (please include your name and e-mail). We have 3-5 right now that are trying to get this all arranged. Thanks!
EDIT: Note, this isn't a guarantee that the club is a go.

Liability is probably going to keep the Rolla Gun Club from storing the guns and ammo. I would not recommend having a club officer bear responsibility for storing the guns and ammo. Plus, their renters or homeowners insurance policy probably would not allow it. Who would pay for them if they were stolen? Who would bear responsibility if they were misused?
Also, who is going to actually own the guns? If the club pays for them, they belong to the club. What happens to them if the club dissolves? I'm guessing they would go to the university and then the university would have to store them and/or dispose of them. Understand, I'm not trying to derail the process but only want to bring up some hard questions beforehand. Lots of stuff to think about. The equipment you'll be using is not ropes or boxing gloves.
