Post subject:  University Policies for RSOs

A recognized student organization I am a member of is in the process of revising some of our policies, the Student Life office (well an employee of the office) has reviewed our revision and said that they are subject to the approval of the Student Life office.

Are there any policies in place that say the Student Life office has the revision powers over RSOs's policies? Is there any designation that would allow them to have control over one organization and not another?

Basically, they can review any changes you make to your constitution or bylaws. If any of those changes conflict with University policy then you have to modify or remove those changes to make your organization compliant with University policies. If the changes you make change the purpose of your organization then Student Life can send your constitution/bylaws through the new organization recognition process.
As for your second question: I don't know the answer to that but I'm pretty sure that the answers is no, there aren't any special designations that allow RSOs to not be under Student Life.
