What kind of music would you want to hear at a local Battle of the Bands competition? How much would you pay to see it? $5? $10? Would you go if there were high school and college bands, or would you prefer just college (or at least older than high school)? Finally, would you like to participate (or do you know someone who would like to participate)?
Thanks in advance for your answers.
I suppose I should give some answers of my own though:
I am in SM&IS 397 right now (basically Senior Design for Business students) and we are supposed to form a company that provides a product or service. We'll present our idea to the Phelps County Bank, and if they like the idea, they'll grant us a commercial loan. My group wants to host a Battle of the Bands festival, and we'd like to know how much interest there is for one.
This would not be a podunk, poorly run yodel-fest. Our loan could be anywhere from $2,000 - $6,000 and the festival would include plenty of local music, food and drink vendors, a beer garden and anything else that should be at a rockin' concert.
Hence the need for the questions. Once again, thanks for your time!
I'd go if it's music I'm into. Of course, with my taste in music, this is not an easy thing. But it seems like the only concerts that play in Rolla are typical shit-rock, dance-pop/rock, and punk-rock (the poppy variety). I'd be into a hardcore show, but I know I'd be one of the few. I'd really be into any rock show, as long as the rock wasn't generic shit.

If it had good bands (at least a couple that I know of, anyway) and a good atomsphere (not all of us packed into St. Pats Ballroom), I'd go and probably pay about 10 bucks if it was an all-day/night thing.

Are there other local(ish) bands that usually have good turnouts? Would you be more likely to come see unknown bands compete or see well known bands perform... or a combination of both?

Happy Jacket is not really together anymore. Lead guitarist is in music production school or something in Florida.

I would go and I'd pay more than $10 if it was less "battle" and more bands. In other words, bring really good bands in and I bet you'll get more people out....

Combo.
And I'm with mindbender: it would be better if it was more "bands" and less "battle."

Lojic is awesome. I have a question: did the band Core Project break up? I've heard they're pretty good but I never got to see them. Haven't heard anything about them for a while though.
I would definately come because Battles of the Bands are awesome fun no matter what type of music is played. I used to go to them in Texas all the time. I'd even be willing for volunteer if you guys need me.
Depending on how far from now it is, I could probably get a band together becuase I've been playing with a couple of guys around here. We'd probably suck, but we'd still have fun.
P.S. Core Project was pretty awesome, but I haven't heard from them in a while.
