The UMR Tennis Club's Traveling Team traveled to Kansas City this past weekend to compete against Washington University (ranked 19th in the nation for USTA club teams) and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. We were using a World-Team Tennis format that is based on games won instead of matches won that is new to us. We went into the deciding mixed doubles matches with a 13 game lead over WashU and an 11 game lead over UNL. This all but clinched our victory over both teams. This was excellent practice for us and has us psyhced for sectionals in February at Drake University in Iowa and Nationals in April at UT-Austin.
We're not technically the "UMR Tennis Club" yet, because we aren't an "official" club, but we will be finishing and submitting our constitution soon. We are always looking for new members. Members can take part in weekly lessons, drop-in tennis, and/or our play for the competitive traveling team.
