Apparently, companies are using Facebook to determine whether or not to hire potential employees. According to this article people's facebook profiles are hurting their chances of being hired because of what they have on them. I guess the moral of the story is becareful what you put in your profile.

The bottom line is you can dig up dirt on anyone. Perfect people don't exist, everyone has done something that a company may frown upon. This is just an example of employers trying to control their employees personal lives anymore. What harm is there in an employee drinking at home off the job, having extreme political views, as long as they don't affect the on-the-job performance?

I agree. The things the company already looks at should be enough to tell how someone will be on the job. They shouldn't have to meddle in how that person is away from the work place.

There is one possible solution - making your profile only viewable by friends.

Or how about just killing yourself now?

If someone leaves an axe on your doorstep, are they responsible if you hack up your neighbor? Facebook is not responsible for other people's stupidity. I don't like the topic title of this thread. Here's an easy rule, don't publish something you don't want everyone to see.

Actually, I agree. I should have found a better way of putting that.
