UMR chancellor to announce proposed name change

When: 11 a.m. Friday, March 23
Where: St. Pat’s Ballroom A, Havener Center
University of Missouri-Rolla campus

ROLLA, Mo. -- University of Missouri-Rolla Chancellor John F. Carney III will make an announcement related to a proposed change in the institution’s name during a news conference to be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 23, in St. Pat’s Ballroom A in the Havener Center on the UMR campus.

Media interested in attending should contact the UMR office of public relations at 573-341-4328.

I suggest that we all show up to this and wear the t-shirts you know you were given freshman year.

You know I have heard some idiots still think we can use that slogan. I mean, how stupid do you have to be? Really? Of course, those are some of the people who believe that changing the name will miraculously raise UMR in the consciousness of thousands of people...

This school will never get a dime from me if it changes its name. I'd be more than willing to donate money to UMR, but not to MOUSE or whatever name they'll give us...

Not that I ever really considered donating anyways....I think nearly 8 grand a year in tuition is enough of a donation

Thing is, I all ready give to the university; although at this point the amount is minuscule, but still... My department is small in comparison to the rest of the university, and I really would like to help them in the future, but if the name changes I truly could not justify it...

Thing is, if the school changes its name, my department will further be obscured...

Carney should remember he is a visitor here, and we are alumni for life...

So let me get this straight, and sorry, im a little slow, Is he gonna announce what the new name will be? or is he just announcing that the name change will happen? or is he announcing name choices to be considered? ill agree with teh past 12 posts on this forum though
