This one flew under my radar.... I like it, but as it would remove the golf course (I don't know how many people use it), I can imagine some people not liking it. This will be interesting to see grow.

I use the golf course, and am sad to see it go, but it is pretty obvious that very few students use it.

The property could definitely be used for something better.

Uh-oh what? This could be a great development for the city and the college alike.

What exactly is a research park? Will this just be series of small buidlings that contain dedicated labs?

I don't know. The article is pretty vague. It almost sounds like UMR is going to rent it out to business and maybe provide services like internet access.

A research park is a tract of land dedicated to buildings and facilities for all types of research; From what I've been able to gather, it's for biotechnology and other advanced research so far. There's also something about student entrepreneurial aspects. Almost every university that's a "research university" has one.... might be cool.

May also provide job opportunities for University students...that would be pretty sweet. Cutting edge research jobs.

I think that's the idea, but I might be wrong. This is supposed entirely integrate cutting edge research and industry with the university.

There is a Research Park on Ft. Wood for the UM System. As far as I've been able to tell (my dept used to have 2 offices over there) there isn't much (any?) research that goes on, and it is like what gil-galad said.
