A couple of my suite-mates, and several more of my friends (all freshmen, o'course) are all of the belief that Seek is some form of a government trap, so they refuse to come visit.
With all this DMCA propaganda slathered around the school, and word-of-mouth being the only way I've seen Seek spreading, my theory is that a lot of people know about it, but nobody's willing to come here because the think it's some sort of evil pirating ring and they don't want to get involved.

Someone should inform that seek42 is nothing more than a forum for UMR students (and Alumni for those that have graduated) to keep in touch, spread the word of new events happening, and possibly rip off their fellow classmates by selling something way marked up over its internet price only to be flamed all over the place.
Nothing more to see here.

Yeah - who took it up the ass from the RIAA/MPAA to have us put up DMCA notification signs everywhere? Why don't we have giant signs that say "don't rape, steal, or murder"? Surely those crimes are more unwanted than piracy, yet somehow the DMCA (one of the shittiest laws ever) is the one that gets posted on every door and window in the university.

Would it be possible to put a link to the seek forums on the mainpage of that other website about parrots? I know I started using the forums out of boredom, and just started clicking the link.

what someone ought to do is create a program that generates random off-campus traffic on port 80 and give it to every student, and load it on every CLC machine. it would tie up so much off campus bandwith they'd be forced to repeal the ban on completely legal activities. (side affects may include unbearably slow internet, and increased IT fees)
