i haven't been able to check the seek site for about a week from my off campus house, whats up with that since its working on campus.

you have to vpn in.

the new p2p protocal is blocking seek from the outside world after about 5 minutes on a port... we think it sees all these outside ip's connecting to seek kinda like a torrent or something similar, and instantly blocks the port.. thus disableing seek.. so untill something is worked out with karl all seekage will have to be done via vpn.. which isnt a big deal anyways..

just make sure you go into the properties for vpn then to the network tab. go into properties for tcp/ip, then click advanced, and uncheck use default gateway on remote network.. this way all your normal traffic goes directly out.. and anything campus related goes via vpn

As of right now, windows tells me I'm not connected to VPN, but here I am... posting from off campus. Hopefully windows is right.

Damn you windows, you suck at knowing when you're connected to stuff.

Right now, I'm using the Cisco VPN client, but I still find it annoying that I can't create a VPN connection the normal way.

Yeah, as of Sunday (and maybe saturday) I haven't been able to VPN in either.

VPN works for me and I can't connect to seek without a VPN.

I got seek for about 5 minutes this morning at around 8:35 before I had to VPN.

VPN went down for a while today but is back up.

So is this fixed...or is this a fluke?

Because this is a pretty major annoyance.

hrmm i got in and i live 45 min away just by changing in the url to something say like this http://r01ajrhc8.desktop.umr.edu:8000/ to something like this http://r01ajrhc8.desktop.umr.edu:1234/ or im dumb either way oh well.
