I just got back from this and it was an awesome event. Props to the organizers.
One thing that has soured the memory is as I was walking to my car, I saw a cop doling out tickets to people who had parked in non-spaces. I remember this happening last year and it really chafes me that they do this. All the good PR that is generated in the community gets bashed if you get a ticket for not parking 1/2 mile + away from Havener.
Now, I completely understand that the cops are just doing their job. But it's impossible to have a large event anywhere on campus without running out of decently close parking.
So what I would like to happen is getting some resolution or such written up that will pay the cops to oversee parking and/or have them ferry people from a larger parking lot.
This is an issue that will only grow with time. So what I'm asking is for the student council member that read this forum to make something happen. I wouldn't mind being on an ad hoc if need be to resolve this. There is a solution that will make both parties happy.

Agreed. If it's a weekend, don't give out tickets unless people are parking in places that either block someone or are unsafe. Parking far away is teh suxx0rs.

I thought that parking was not enforced on weekends anyway except in 24 hour lots like TJ?
Parking is not enforced as far as which lot you are parked in, but if aren't parked in a valid space, they will occasionaly write tickets on the weekend.
Ok, I was going to park in Havener but all the spots were filled and then about 10 cars were parked not in spaces when right around the corner Lot B was completely empty. I can see having to walk from far away, but if you can't walk from B lot to Havener than you are just a little bit lazy, especially because there were signs all over the place, so it wasn't like they didn't know where to go.

like frankieM said they wont ticket on weekends unless you are physically parked outside of a spot. like in havener continuing to park down the line till you hit the bureau of mines building will get you a ticket.
