So, I got an email today that, if I read it correctly, says that our Gov. Jay Nixon is proposing a freeze on tuition rates for next year. I was a little worried with the email from before saying an increase of 10-20% could be expected. Anyone else have thoughts on this new development? If I am mistaken in my translation of the email, please forgive and correct me.
They're not raising tuition and the state isn't cutting back on higher education spending. That means they'll be letting go of anything they can afford to cut - probably unnecessary personell and programs to make up for the freeze in tuition.
What's a little sad is that the universitys budget hasn't even reached it's 2001 levels - raw budget, not adjusted for inflation. I hate former Gov Holden...
