On one of the campus computers there was a picture of someone messing with glass that came up on the screen saver - I assume this means we have a glass shop on campus somewhere now. I found an old article about it, but it didn't say which classes you had to take in order to use it - it only mentioned something about ceramics engineering. I'd love to take a glassblowing class - how convenient it's in town! - but I don't necessarily want to progress through 100 and 200 level ceramics courses first. Then again, that might be the case for everyone...

So I guess what I want to know is, who all knows what about this glassblowing deal?

I heard from a ceramics major that there was a glass blowing class a few semesters ago. It didn't sound like there were any pre reqs, but she said they haven't offered it the past 2 semesters.

I'd really be interested in a glassblowing class as well.

the glassblowing lab is on the ground floor of fulton just stop in and ask sometime. Over the summer i went in and found some students making a paperweight, seems pretty lenient and cool.

It's on the corner of the ground floor of Fulton closest to Parker Hall. G8 I believe. I've never been in there myself but I usually see someone up to something in there on Friday afternoons so I know they still blow glass there.

Does anyone know if they work with borosilicate glass (i.e. Pyrex(R) )? I need something for an IDE class made from it, and manufacturing it on campus would be a heck of a lot easier. I intend to talk to them today, but if anyone knows of some other place where this type of thing is possible, feel free to let me know.

Talk to Dr. Reidmyer or Dr. Smith from the ceramics department or if you know Erica Rochnetto talk to her.
