I'm betting that UMR will run some kind of shuttle service for the kids that are put up in hotels...either that or they'll give them parking passes for some really shitty lot...

Neither seems likely to me... UMR doesn't even own any busses, or vans big enough to use as shuttles. And every parking lot is probably booked solid already. Even the shitty ones.

I think a lot more than freshmen signed up for the Res College this year... I actually considered it until I noticed the price tag.

What are you basing your statement on, though? I don't think our school has the necessary resources to run a true shuttle service, unless it's just an econoline van driving across town. Or maybe they'll steal one of the short busses from Rolla public schools. Wouldn't that be a blast.

After talking to some of the new RA's in the past few days I can pretty confidently confirm that they are running a shuttle service. I don't know how it will work out, but I imagine that they will go through a bus service. That's how a lot of school districts do it (especially in large cities). They just rent the buses so that they don't actually have to pay for them, maintain them, or find a place to keep them.

Do you mean greyhound-type busses or school-type busses?

That will leave them with a solid first impression of the school.

Besides the palace, where is everyone living that is supposed to be in the Res. college? I talked to some guy that is going to be coming to school here and he was going to be in some hotel (forgot which one). Just wondering if anyone had heard anything about this.

I worked in the Adm. Office over the summer, yes they are putting people in a hotel too. From what I have heard it going to be a sweat deal too. In door / out door pool. Maid service... shit...
