I e-mailed Res-Life asking if they'd let us buy them from them like last year, the lady said they weren't doing it again this year.
I have a delimna, I don't think my cars big enough to go to Lowes and fit a bunch of 2x4's in it, unless they're already precut (can they do that there?).
Also I have no clue how to build one.
So i need to know how to build one exactly, or if anyone has one they're selling that I can get to very quickly (like opening week).
I'll be there freshmen week for things, and woulud like to get it done then.

I've got a loft that did me well for three years. It is one of the TJ lofts on steroids so it is much more stable and has a 6" desk underneath. $40, I don't have a truck, and you can only pick it up in the evening when me and the guy's place I'm keeping it at are both off work. plh844@umr.edu if interested.

If you don't know how to build one yourself, then I'd recommend buying one from someone who does. Remeber, this collection of sticks and stones will be holding rather heavy objects over your desk or whatever you choose to put underneath it. Such things as computers go on desks. Computers are expensive...
Anyway, I have an old loft that has served me well for several years. For $40, it's yours along with a truck ride to the dorms. Talk to BJ (Colonel Potato) if you're interested. I'm not in town right now.

It's really not all that hard to build one. I found online plans for one the summer before my freshman year and it took me maybe 10 hours to build. I did however glue pretty much every jiont, routered all of the edges, and sanded all of the faces. For a basic loft you should be able to build it in 2 hours or so. I suggest using 2-2"x6" for each leg, butt them up together so that they make an L shape. Use a 2"x6" for the runners that will hold your bed up, and then put lag bolts in all of the corners to hold it together (they're easier than hex bolts and sturdier than just plaiin screws.
When it all comes down to it, everyone likes to do something different, you'll see all kinds of loft designs out there. In all reality, I endorse the Cave option over a loft. You make a platform that you put your bed underneath and then you put a couch or desk or whatever the hell you want up top. It saves as much room, it's easier to get into bed, and if you want to sleep it's always dark in there with a sheet over teh edges. Just make sure you make it sturdy so that it won't fall on you if people are sitting up top while you sleep.
