lol, they're having a lot of problems right now man.
Direct TV is throwing them a lot of speedbumps and they need their cards flashed every couple of weeks.
If it hasn't already happened, Direct TV hacking won't be possible with their new hardware and broadcasting methods. It should be going into effect really soon.
On a side note another Sat company just released a easy to hack SAT... It was one of those cheezy SAT companys that can't compete.
If you want to find out more about this I suggest reading news groups, they are the main non BS source of information.
Dish network is not very difficult to steal, but it normally involves paying for a website membership that will give you the new codes when they change. This normally means that you have to pay with a credit card to a place that is really likely to get a court order for your info someday. The news groups have this info too, but you have to wait a few more days for it. Bottom line, you may be messing with the hack maybe two times a week and its really not worth it unless you have nothing better to do.
If you want to hack direct tv its very doable and lots of cool projects exist. Many pretty decent things you can do to modify how your receiver functions if you pay for some form of service. If you want to steal service again it’s a pain. It used to be much easier but now is more regularly becoming a pain. Like Worseleysaid lost of difficulty and regular card lashing. The worst part about this is that they are going after individuals who buy certain types of equipment now. I know a couple people in Rolla that have gotten the subpoena / fine.
If you really want to steal direct tv service there are two “less pain in the ass ways to do it”. The first is emulation, which is not a trivial task as it requires a PC to be attached to the receiver at all times. If you want to find out more look for (direct tv emulation) The much simpler (for the consumer) way to steal direct TV is to press/clone a legit card (on the old hardware). With the clone though you don’t get the pay-per-view stuff that makes hacking the dish more attractive. This makes things easier as you may only need to replace that card once every year or so.

my uncle works with those boxes, and the most common hacks are those put out by "disgruntled" former employees that recently since electronics took a downturn, there are plenty of them. You can get blue prints of receivers everywhere, and there are ppl out there that will tell you how to re-arrange connections to bypass security modules placed on the card, with a purchased, mem chip that is more or less a keygen. But, they are working on it all the time, so you never know when one method will stop working/get you jail time. so good luck.
